Where to Store Your Luggage in Évora

Évora is one of the most popular Portuguese cities to visit, thanks to attractions like The Roman Temple of Évora and Évora’s creepy bone chapel. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, there’s a real lack of places to store your luggage in Évora.

Although the city is quite flat, it definitely isn’t somewhere that you want to lug heavy suitcases and backpacks around. It can get incredibly hot here during the summer and those cobbled streets would make it difficult to take a rolling suitcase through the streets anyway.

Despite a real lack of luggage storage options, we’ve done our best to list a few options and some solutions too.

As of May 2023, Luggage storage app Bounce has at least one luggage storage location in Évora at a hotel that’s open 24/7. Using Bounce costs around €6.65 per day, and this includes $10,000 worth of insurance to keep your bags safe.

Another option would be to stay at a hotel that has a reception as most hotels allow you to store your luggage at the reception if you arrive late or aren’t leaving Évora until later in the day. Some Airbnbs will allow you to do this also. However, since most Airbnbs don’t have a reception, they usually won’t allow you to drop your bags or leave them while there are other guests in the accommodation so, for this reason, a hotel may be better for your Évora trip. Évora has a great selection of hotels and hostels to suit all budgets and many offer luggage storage.

Hotels that allow you to store your luggage include:

Évora Bus Station

There are no luggage storage lockers at Évora bus station (Rodoviária do Alentejo), however it is possible to store your luggage at the ticket station. The cost is €1 per item

  • Address: Central Bus Station, Av. Túlio Espanca S/N 2º, 7005-840 Évora
  • Phone: +351 266 738 120.

Évora Train Station

There are no luggage storage lockers at Évora train station.

Another option would be to contact one of the hostels in Évora to ask how much they would charge you to use the guest lockers. Typically, you might have to pay around €15 to do so.

Day Trip Options

If you’re only visiting Évora for a day and returning to the same location, like Lisbon or Porto, it may be easier to leave your bags there. There are lots of luggage storage options in Lisbon and Porto – much more than Évora.
