If you’re visiting Sintra, especially if it’s just for a day, the last thing you want to do is lug your suitcases and backpacks around with you. Attractions like Pena Palace are often crowded, other attractions are spread out, and the town itself is quite hilly.

Surprisingly, there aren’t that many luggage storage options in Sintra, despite there being a big demand for it. However, we were able to find a few options.

  • Luggage Hero – Lists one option right in the middle of Sintra’s town centre, just a few minutes from the train station.
  • Bounce – Lists one option that’s quite close to the town centre, and a few more minutes from the train station.
  • Sintra train station (map) has lockers.
  • Tempo de Tradiçoes (map) just outside of the train station provides luggage storage for ~€5 per day per bag. Look for the big rooster on the pavement outside the shop.

Note: Be sure to check the opening times of anywhere where you’re leaving your luggage.

Other Options

Checking into a hotel or hostel?

Most hotels and hostels will allow you to drop off your bag at reception, especially if they have a manned reception. Airbnbs will sometimes do this but as you can imagine, it’s a little more difficult as they don’t have a reception and they won’t want you dropping bags off while there are other guests there. They may, however, let you drop off your suitcases and bags while the property is being cleaned. It’s always worth asking.

Travelling from Lisbon

If you’re coming from Lisbon, there are a lot of luggage storage options there. According to the Portugal train’s website, cp.pt, there are left luggage lockers at Rossio train station, which is the train station you would get if you take the train to Sintra. However, if for whatever reason they’re unaccessible or full, there are lots of other options available through apps like Luggage Hero.

Travelling with a tour group

If you’re travelling with a tour group that includes transportation by minibus, you may be able to leave your luggage onboard the minibus. Just be sure to check with the company first.
